WVL PROJECT EVALUATION AND SUCCESS STORY MEETING

The WVL project evaluation and success story meeting supported by ActionAid took place at OCDI hall on Tuesday, 15th March 2023.

Representatives from the police, NHRC(Nigerian Human rights Commission), Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Youths, JONAPWED, School representatives (Teachers and students), primary health staff Igele, SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre) and survivors were present.

The aim of the meeting was to gather the story of change and impact on the lives of stakeholders in Kwara State.

SUPPORT GROUP MEETING WITH SURVIVORS OF GBV

The meeting  was organized by OCDI and supported by Actionaid, the aim of the meeting is to enable the survivors to express their gratitude and speak on the positive impact the WVL project has made on their lives. Most survivors who benefitted from the project were happy and grateful to the organization, because they have been able to move on with their lives, have a skill and forget all the violence they have been through in the past.

Data Validation on Women, Peace and Security with Desk Officers from 16 LGAs in Kwara State

Olive Community Development Initiatives with the support of ActionAid Nigeria funded by Global Affairs Canada on Monday 12th December, 2022 organized a data validation on women, peace and security meeting, in which the Representative of the Honourable Commissioner, Directors from Ministry of Women Affairs, other important persons, desk officers from 16 Local Government Area of Kwara State and members of staff from Olive Community Development Initiatives were present at Ministry of Women Affairs Ilorin, Kwara State.

Support Group Meeting for Survivors of GBV

Olive Community Development Initiatives organized a support group meeting on Tuesday, 22nd November 2022 for survivors of GBV funded by ActionAid Nigeria supported by Global Affairs Canada.

The meeting which focus on the moving forward of survivors started by 10:30am with the introduction of survivors and the business they are doing presently.

The Program Manager OCDI and Counselor enlightened the survivors on how they can achieve more the coming year and were counselled to leave painful or past experiences behind them.

SUPPORT GROUP MEETING

OCDI held a supoprt group meeting for female survivors of Gender-Based Violence on Friday 13th of May, 2022. Survivors were able to share their experiences and discuss life issues bothering them at the event.

At the meeting, survivors shared testimonies of the progress they have achieved so far as account of OCDI`s intervention through the Women` Voice and Leadership Nigeria Project, tailored by Action-Aid Nigeria and funded by Global Affairs Canada .

COVID-19 PALLIATIVE SUPPORT TO SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE

As part of the measures to meet the needs of women and girls during this covid-19 pandemic lock down, Olive Community Development Initiative with support from Global Affairs Canada and Action-aid Nigeria distributed palliatives containing food items and toiletries among women and girls, who were encourage to break the culture of silence surrounding violence against women and girls and seek help to mitigate the risk associated with these acts and prevent future occurrences.

Support Group Meeting

Olive Community Development Initiative held a support group meeting today with selected clients. The child-parent relationship has a major influence on most aspects of child development. When optimal, parenting skills and behaviors have a positive impact on children’s self-esteem, school achievement, cognitive development and behaviors. This is why OCDI engaged women in a workshop on Parenting today during the quarterly support group meeting.
